Mumbai: Taking several flaws seriously in the website of the Charity Commissioner of Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court has ordered the Maharashtra Government and the Commissioner’s Office to immediately turn the website properly.

The Charity Commissioner’s Office has claimed that the state government is not helping to ensure proper operation of this website. In response, the Information Technology Corporation of the Government of Maharashtra has alleged that the Commissioner’s Office has not given any details regarding the website.

A bench of Bombay High Court Justice Girish Kulkarni and Justice Advaita Sethna directed earlier this month that an officer of the Charity Commissioner Office should coordinate with Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation to solve the problem related to the website.

The High Court said that it is clear that the website has a serious flaw. Although the Charity Commissioner Office said that his website is working properly, it is far from the truth. In this situation, the State Government and the Dharmadaya Commissioner Office should take steps to start the website at the earliest.

During the hearing of the petition filed by the petitioner named Shraddha More in the Bombay High Court, More said that the website of the Charity Commissioner is not working, due to which it has become difficult to file an e-case. The Charity Commissioner said that his website has been operational since August 2016 and is managed by Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation. The Charity Commissioner Office is required to provide 500 GB storage space per month to the server of the State Data Center. The place is needed. Which is not provided, so the website remains closed for several days. However, even after the recent 14.99 TB space was allotted, the website crashed due to technical fault.

The Bombay High Court ordered the Maharashtra government to provide financial assistance to upgrade the server immediately and to meet other needs. According to the allegations of the Maharashtra State Information Commission, the Charity Commissioner Office is not providing necessary data. The High Court asked the Charity Commissioner Office to appoint an officer to end the dispute with the Information Technology Corporation. Along with this, the Chief Dharmadaya Commissioner was also asked to issue orders to all officers of the Dharmadaya Commissioner Office to upload the data related to regularly.

The next hearing in this case has been scheduled on 11 June. Till then both the Charity Commissioner’s Office and the Government of Maharashtra will have to submit a report on the steps taken to start the website.

The High Court has allowed the parties to file their cases offline until the website works properly.
