News India Live, Digital Desk: Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been requested to ban Türkiye and Azerbaijan to ban apple imports. During the meeting of the 10th Governing Council of NITI Aayog held in Bharat Mandapam on Saturday, he requested and emphasized that Prime Minister Modi has assured him that it would be considered appropriately.

After the meeting of NITI AayogTalking to The journalists, the CM of Himachal said that he has talked to Prime Minister Modi that “the prices of our gardeners are falling due to imported apples, causing damage.” He said that he has requested to ban apples coming from Türkiye and Azerbaijan. Sukhu said that he would ensure that the imports of apples do not harm the gardeners of Himachal Pradesh.

Sukhu has requested Turkey and Azerbaijan to ban apple imports at a time when relations between the two countries have become tense, as the two countries had announced their support to Pakistan – especially during the military conflict between New Delhi and Islamabad.

In addition, Sukhu said that he has attracted the attention of the Planning Commission to some environmental concerns of his state. He emphasized that the cold deserts of the state have not been recognized as forest land, due to which the state does not get proper rights.

Sukhu said, “I told the Planning Commission that our forest land is 68 percent and our forest area is 28 percent. Justice has not been done to us in the criteria set by the Finance Commission. In the meeting of NITI Aayog, we raised the issue that our cold deserts are not counted as forest land…”

During the NITI Aayog meeting on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi asked the states to give priority to the goal of ‘developed India’ and emphasized that every state, city, municipality and village should try to become ‘developed’.
