Munawar Faruqui: Stand up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui has been taken into police custody. It is being told that the police took this action during a raid at a hookah bar in Mumbai on Tuesday night. Along with Farooqui, 6 other people have also been detained. Investigation is ongoing. A case has been registered against Farooqui and other detainees under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003. According to a newspaper report, Farooqui was present in the hookah bar during the raid and his medical examination was also done. Senior officials say that the case was dropped after it was registered.
Information was received about the use of tobacco hookah under the guise of herbal hookah.
Police raided Sablan Hookah Bar located in Bora Bazaar. According to the report, an officer said, 'Our team raided the hookah bar after receiving information that people there were using tobacco hookahs in the guise of herbal hookahs.' If it is proved that tobacco hookah has been used then a case will be registered against them under COTPA.
Some money and a bag of hookah were seized during the raid.
According to another media report, the police say that this hookah bar running in the fort area is illegal. During the raid Rs. 4400 cash and Rs. 9 hookah pots worth Rs 13,500 were seized.
