Gurdaspur: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during its drive against corruption in the state, on Tuesday arrested S.P. Sub-Inspector (local rank) Gurpratap Singh, posted as Reader at Gurdaspur Headquarters, has been arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000.
Giving this information here today, an official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the above accused has been arrested on the complaint of Chandra Shekhar Azad, resident of Dinanagar town of Gurdaspur district.
He further said that the complainant has approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said police accused had demanded Rs 10,000 in return for sending the police investigation report in his favor and had already taken Rs 5,000 and the remaining Rs 5,000. Is also demanding.
He further said that after preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and caught the policeman red handed while taking the second installment of Rs 5,000 in the presence of two government witnesses.
He further said that a case has been registered in this regard under the Anti-Corruption Act in the Amritsar range of the Vigilance Bureau. He said that the accused will be produced in the court tomorrow and further proceedings in the case are underway.
