There should be a judicial inquiry into the poisonous liquor incident in village Gujran: Sukhvir Singh Badal

Darba: Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhveer Singh Badal reached the house of people who died after drinking poisonous liquor in village Gujran near Didba. While sharing the grief of the family, he said that this is a very sad incident which cannot be compensated, but if the government wants, it can definitely provide relief to these families by helping them financially. Addressing the people, he said that it is very sad that during the rule of the government which was under pressure on the issue of drug eradication, a major incident of making and supplying spurious liquor has happened. Therefore the government is completely responsible.

MLA of this assembly constituency Harpal Singh Cheema, who is the Finance Minister and Excise Minister in the government, if such a big incident happens in his own house (constituency), then he has a big responsibility. Commenting on the statement of a government minister, he said that he is not responsible for spurious liquor, whereas what is happening in Punjab is the responsibility of the government. Along with this, senior officers of the excise department and police officers are also responsible for this and action should be taken against them. He said that the people who died were from poor families, so his party will put pressure on the government to help them as much as possible and to give government jobs to the eligible people in every house.

Apart from this, Badal said that the investigation committee formed by the Punjab government is his own, hence the decision has to be in favor of his government. Strict action should be taken against those responsible for this.
