Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday released the fifth list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which has 111 names. BJP has made Rajmata Amrit Roy its candidate from Krishnanagar seat of West Bengal, who will face TMC's Mahua Moitra. This seat is one of the important seats of West Bengal. This decision of BJP is being considered as a trump card against Mahua Moitra.

This time in the Lok Sabha elections, the biggest day of democracy in the world, the name of Maharaja Krishnachandra has been directly linked with politics. Amrita Roy is the royal mother of the prestigious Rajwadi (Royal Palace) of Krishnanagar. There was speculation about his possible candidature for the last few days.

Will BJP benefit from Amrita Roy?
Amrita Roy joined BJP on 20 March. He took membership of BJP in the presence of Bengal opposition leader Subendu Adhikari. Amrita Roy is in the fray from Krishnanagar. Everyone knows the contribution of Raja Krishnananda in the history of Nadia district. Krishnanagar still remembers the role of the royal family. Election experts believe that Amrita Roy's candidature will benefit BJP and she will also challenge Mahua Moitra. According to BJP sources, first the district leadership showed interest in fielding Amrita and then the party started talks with her. After much discussion, Amrit agreed to become a candidate.

Mahua Moitra had got a landslide victory in the last election.
TMC leader Mahua Moitra had won from Krishnanagar seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He got 6,14,872 votes, while BJP's Kalyan Choubey got a total of 5,51,654 votes. Mahua Moitra won by a huge margin of 63218. Chopra, Palashipara and Kaliganj assembly constituencies were the driving force behind Mahua's victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Mahua got a lot of votes from these three assemblies. In the last five years, the organization of BJP in Kaliganj Assembly has become very strong.

Apart from this, BJP is also considering that TMC's organizational strength in the region has weakened in the last few months. During these elections, allegations of corruption and internal strife in the ruling party have made the electoral path difficult for TMC.
