Kangana Ranaut had said in a tweet three years ago, 'During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, I was given the option of Gwalior, the population of HP (Himachal Pradesh) is hardly 60/70 lakh, there is no poverty/crime. If I enter politics, I want a kingdom with complexities in which I can work and also become a queen in this field. 'Small fry like you won't understand big things.' However, a year later the actress publicly announced that she was ready to contest from Mandi if the BJP gave her a ticket.
Kangana Ranaut reacted after BJP announced its candidate from Mandi in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, saying, 'My dear India and Bharatiya Janata Party's own party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has always been my unconditional support, today the national leadership. BJP has invited me to my birthplace Himachal Pradesh, declared me as its Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi (district), I follow the decision of the high command to contest the Lok Sabha elections. I am honored and happy to officially join the party. I am hoping to become an able worker and reliable public servant. Thank you.'
