With this step of Railways, about 5 lakh additional seats will be available to the passengers. Under this initiative, Railways is running 75 pairs of special trains between March 21 and 31, which will make 354 journeys. Of these, 243 trains will travel eastwards, while the remaining 111 trains will travel in other directions. Giving information in this regard, Northern Railway General Manager Shobhan Chaudhary said that this time there is a possibility of more crowd of passengers on Holi as compared to last year. Keeping this in mind, this year 102 percent more trains will be traveled compared to last year. Told that last year the trains had made 175 trips. Along with this, 354 cycles are being operated this year. Of these, 282 journeys will be for reserved trains and 72 journeys will be for unreserved trains. Apart from special trains, 842 additional coaches are also being installed in 39 regular trains already running. Due to which 66072 additional seats will be available , If needed, more trains can be run.
The General Manager said that apart from these, additional vehicles will also be kept ready. Keeping in view the crowd, these trains will be operated as and when required. He said that last year, a total of 88 trips were made by Northern Railway through special trains, which has been increased to 140 this year. Similarly, last year, 87 trips were made through special trains from other railways, which has been increased to 214 this time. He said that 92 journeys will be made through special trains from Delhi region. In view of the rush of passengers in special trains on the occasion of Holi, temporary waiting rooms have been made in pandals for the passengers towards Ajmeri Gate in New Delhi. Where they will be able to wait till the trains depart. These passengers will be taken to the platform as soon as the special trains reach the platform.
