On 30 March 2025, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel across the country. Government oil companies have retained the old prices for today. Crude oil prices are definitely seen in the international market, but at the moment it is not having a direct impact on the pockets of domestic consumers.
Government oil companies such as Indian Oil (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) release new rates every morning, but even today fuel prices remain unchanged.

- Mumbai: Petrol ₹ 103.94 per liter, diesel ₹ 89.97 per liter
- Kolkata: Petrol ₹ 103.94 per liter, diesel ₹ 90.76 per liter
- Chennai: Petrol ₹ 100.85 per liter, diesel ₹ 92.44 per liter
Prices also stable in other big cities
- Bengaluru: Petrol ₹ 102.86, Diesel ₹ 88.94
- Lucknow: Petrol ₹ 94.65, Diesel ₹ 87.76
- Noida: Petrol ₹ 94.66, Diesel ₹ 87.76
- Gurugram: Petrol ₹ 94.98, Diesel ₹ 87.85
- Chandigarh: Petrol ₹ 94.24, Diesel ₹ 82.40
- Patna: Petrol ₹ 105.42, Diesel ₹ 92.27
There is no increase or cut of any kind in all these cities today. It is clear that oil companies have decided not to change prices at the moment.
How are the prices of petrol and diesel fixed?
The responsibility of fixing the prices of petrol and diesel in India is mainly of three government oil companies – Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum. These companies determine prices keeping various factors in view of international crude oil prices, dollars, exchange rates, tax and transportation costs levied by the central governments.
In March 2024, the last time petrol and diesel prices were cut by ₹ 2 per liter. Since then, fuel prices have remained stable.
This stability has given some relief to the general public, especially those who travel by vehicle daily. But at the same time it is also important to keep in mind that if the prices of crude oil in the international market again gain momentum, then the prices of petrol and diesel are possible in the coming days.
