Had no money to take admission in IIT
Matribhootam was born in Trichy city of Tamil Nadu and faced difficulties in his early life. Girish's father worked for the public. Girish was an average student in school. He could not reach IIT. He completed his engineering from Shanmugha Academy of Arts, Science, Technology and Research near his hometown. Later he completed his MBA from Madras University.
In 1992, after completing his engineering studies, he did MBA. Despite financial difficulties in his family, he would ask his father for money to continue his education. His father was in financial trouble and had taken a loan from a relative.
But he got a chance to work in America. He had experience of working in many companies including HCL Company. In 2010, he and his friend Shaun Krishnasamy founded the company Freshworks in Chennai.
In 2011, Freshworks received $1 million in funding as an initial investment. The company that waited for this beginning later became Gaurav. Both of them formed a team. Girish made the company his home and spent most of the day in the company. After this, Freshwork started challenging foreign companies also. Known for its work, it has now become a company worth Rs 95,000 crore.
