IPL 2024 New Rule: The 17th season of IPL is going to start from tomorrow. Fans are in full enthusiasm for this. The next season will also see a new rule to increase the excitement of the game. This special rule will be implemented for the first time in the 17-year history of IPL. This special rule was recently implemented by BCCI in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Now for the first time it will also be used in IPL.
What is this new rule?
Generally, in T20 cricket, two bouncers i.e. balls above the shoulder are not allowed in one over. Therefore the second bouncer is given one run by the umpire calling it an extra delivery. But two bouncers are acceptable in ODI and Test cricket. Now for the first time in IPL too, two bouncers will be allowed in one over in the next season. Bowlers can benefit a lot from this new rule. In T20 cricket, every ball matters and in such a situation, a maximum of 40 bouncer balls in an innings can trouble the batsmen.
BCCI did not follow ICC rules
BCCI has recently approved the rule of two bouncers in an over in T20 cricket. It was used in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Now the board has decided to implement this rule in IPL also. Whereas in T20 International, only one bouncer ball is allowed in an over. Also, the BCCI has not accepted the recently changed ICC rule of using separate DRS for stumping and catching.
