Which party got the most money from electoral bonds?
The Election Commission on Sunday shared new information on electoral bonds and funds given to political parties since the scheme was launched in 2018, detailing how much money each political party received from which company or individual.
BJP got the maximum amount
According to Election Commission data, BJP has collected the maximum amount of money. Rs 6,986.5 crore has been received. However, the BJP did not disclose who gave the money, citing the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and relevant sections of the Reserve Bank of India Act and the Income Tax Act.
DMK in second place
Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) is second in the list with electoral bonds worth Rs. Rs 665.5 crore have been received. Lottery king Santiago Martin's Future Gaming & Services and Megha Engineering & Infra are among the DMK's top donors, with 77 per cent coming from Future Gaming, which contributed Rs. 509 crore and Megha Engineering contributed Rs. What is this electoral bond?
To campaign during elections, political parties put up hoardings, posters and hold public meetings including rallies for public relations. Parties receive huge amounts of money in the form of donations for this campaign. Political parties receive donations in two ways. The company or individual cuts the check and deposits it in the party's account or transfers it electronically.
The second method is election bond or electoral bond. Those who can take bonds of different denominations not directly in the party's account but in the company or individual's SBI in the name of the party. This amount can be in lakhs of crores. The government declares them four times every year in January, April, July and October for ten days each. Then the interested company or individual can donate money to their favorite political party through this bond.

However, in a recent case related to this, the Supreme Court banned this bond and gave strict orders to the Election Commission to give information about how much money the parties received under this bond and who gave it.
