Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the second list of its candidates for 29 seats for the assembly elections in Delhi. With this list, the party has so far announced its candidates on a total of 58 seats. Various caste equations have been kept in mind in the selection of candidates. BJP, which has been eyeing power in Delhi for 27 years, has not yet fielded a Muslim candidate on any seat.

Ticket from Ballimaran to Kamal Bagdi

BJP has fielded Kamal Bagri from Ballimaran, the Muslim dominated seat of Old Delhi. Bagri is a councilor from Ramnagar ward. On this seat, Aam Aadmi Party has given ticket to Imran Hussain and Congress has given ticket to Harun Yusuf. Political experts believe that this move of BJP is an attempt to attract Hindu voters, especially when two Muslim candidates are in a strong position.

Anil Gaur gets a chance in Seelampur

On Seelampur seat also, BJP has given ticket to Anil Gaur among Muslim voters. Gaur is a corporation councilor from Maujpur. Here Aam Aadmi Party has nominated Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed and Congress has nominated Abdul Rehman. The influence of Muslim voters on this seat is important, and BJP is trying to take advantage this time through the Hindu face.

Selection of Deepti Indora in Matiya Mahal

BJP has made Deepti Indora its candidate for Matia Mahal seat. Deepti is a former councilor and is considered a youth leader. On this seat, Aam Aadmi Party has given ticket to Shoaib Iqbal and Congress has given ticket to Asim Ahmed Khan.

Keep an eye on potential candidates

BJP has not yet announced any candidate from Mustafabad seat, while Aam Aadmi Party has given ticket to Adil Ahmed Khan and Congress has given ticket to Ali Mehndi from this seat. On Okhla seat, Aam Aadmi Party has given another chance to Amanatullah Khan, while BJP has given ticket to Manish Chaudhary. The Congress candidate is yet to be announced.

This strategy of BJP makes it clear that it is trying to attract Hindu voters even in Muslim dominated seats, so that it can gain an edge in the electoral contest.
