Travel insurance worth Rs 10 lakh will be available in just 45 paise, know who can avail the benefit of this scheme

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has presented a great offer for railway passengers. Now travelers can get travel insurance cover worth Rs 10 lakh by spending just 45 paise. This scheme has been launched keeping in mind the safety of passengers. This insurance policy is completely optional, but once selected, it will be applicable to all passengers traveling under the same PNR.

Who can avail the benefit of this scheme?

• This scheme is available only for Indian citizens.
• Foreign nationals, passengers booking tickets through agents or other travel agencies cannot avail this insurance.
• Children below 5 years of age, whose tickets are booked without a seat, will not get insurance cover.
• However, insurance is available for children aged 5-11 years, whether their ticket is with or without a seat.

Benefits of insurance plan

Passengers get four major benefits under this insurance scheme:

1. Transfer of dead body:
   • Cover up to ₹10,000 for transportation of dead body after death in an accident.
2. Cost of injury treatment:
   • Benefit up to ₹2 lakh in case of hospitalization.
3. Permanent Partial Disability:
   • In case of partial disability, cover up to 75% of the sum insured i.e. ₹7,50,000.
4. Permanent total disability or death:
   • Cover up to 100% of sum assured i.e. up to ₹10 lakh in case of permanent total disability or death due to accident.

How to get insurance cover?

• This scheme will be applicable if insurance is selected during ticket booking.
• Policy information will be given to passengers through SMS and email.
• Policy number and other details can be seen in the ticket booking history.
• Nominee information will have to be entered on the website of the insurance company after booking the ticket.
• If nominee details are not entered, the sum assured will be given to the legal heirs.

Policy eligibility

• This insurance scheme is applicable only for confirmed and RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) ticket holders.
• This scheme has been created with the aim of providing financial security in case of accidents or unexpected events during travel.
