Delhi Assembly Election 2025:Small political parties like BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) and AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) have geared up for the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi. The aim of these parties is to strengthen their ground by making a dent in the vote bank of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress.
- BSP is preparing to contest elections on all 70 seats.
- AIMIM has announced to field candidates on 10-12 Muslim dominated seats.
Prominent leaders of these parties, Mayawati and Asaduddin Owaisi, will campaign through rallies, which will make the election contest more interesting.
BSP’s focus: Dalits and deprived communities
BSP is preparing to make the contest difficult by fielding candidates on all seats in Delhi elections.

AIMIM’s plan: Focus on Muslim dominated seats
AIMIM has announced to contest elections on 10-12 Muslim dominated seats of Delhi.

- Tahir Hussain from Mustafabad.
- Shafa-ur-Rehman from Okhla.
- Both of them have been accused in the 2020 Delhi riots.
- Objective of AIMIM:
- To give direct competition to BJP.
- To solve the problems of infrastructure, housing and traffic in Muslim dominated areas.
- Statement of Delhi unit president Shoaib Jamai:
- “We will take on the BJP directly. AAP and Congress should understand that they are not needed on these seats.”
- “If there is a need for an alliance, we can go with other parties to stop the BJP.”
Bharatiya Liberal Party (BLP): Challenge to Kejriwal
The recently established Bharatiya Liberal Party (BLP) has also decided to enter the electoral fray.
- Party setup:
- Dr. Munish Kumar Raizada, who was associated with the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare.
- Major goals:
- To achieve long term development in Delhi.
- To form Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) if it comes to power.
- Leading candidates:
- Dr. Raizada will contest against Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi seat.
- Dr. Raizada’s statement:
- “We want to bring long-term change in Delhi and will give a tough challenge to AAP.”
Strategy of AIMIM and BSP: Preparation to make a big impact
- BSP aims to reduce the vote share of AAP, BJP and Congress by connecting with the deprived class.
- With AIMIM holding rallies and raising issues in Muslim dominated areas, there is a possibility that there may be a split in the minority vote bank.
- The aim of both the parties is to dominate their respective areas and play a decisive role in the upcoming elections.
