In October 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vadodara-Mumbai trench of this expressway.

India's longest expressway project

India's largest project to date is the Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway project and is estimated to cost Rs 1 lakh crore. This will be the longest and busiest expressway in the country. Its length will be 1,350 km. In January 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 246 km long Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot Trench of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is being constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Features of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

  • The Delhi–Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway is the longest expressway project in India and has a total length of 1,350 km. The expressway will connect Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat.
  • A 30-lane toll plaza is being built on the expressway, due to which the waiting time for vehicles to pass will be less than 10 seconds. Car parking for the convenience of passengers on this expressway. It will include fuel pumps, restaurants, service areas, toilets, children There will be a play area.
  • This will be India's first expressway with a 2.5 km wildlife crossing. The project has been divided into a total of 52 packages, ranging in length from 8 km to 46 km.
