Rape of female player for 2 years in Kerala, more than 60 people including coach accused, 6 arrested

Rape case in Kerala: A case of rape of a female player multiple times for 2 years has come to light in Pathanamthitta, Kerala. Police have registered 4 FIRs in this case and 6 people have been arrested. More than 60 people are suspected to be involved in this case. According to the police, the victim had turned 18 two months ago. It is alleged that she was repeatedly raped since the age of 16. The matter came to light when counseling was being done by the Child Welfare Committee. The teachers of the victim’s educational institution complained that there had been a change in his behaviour.

Rajeev, president of Pathanamthitta Child Welfare Committee, said that the girl revealed about the sexual abuse during a school counseling session. After this, a case was registered with the police on behalf of the Child Welfare Committee. The girl is a sportsperson who was abused by coaches, classmates and local residents at several places including sports camps in Pathanamthitta.’ In the report, the police said that the victim did not have her phone. She had saved the numbers of about 40 people in her father’s mobile who abused her.

The victim was referred to a psychologist

Child Welfare Committee members also took the girl to a psychologist. The purpose of which was to know whether his allegations were true or false. On the other hand, Kerala High Court has adjourned till January 14 the hearing on the bail petition filed by Bobby Chemmanur, the main accused in the sexual harassment case. Chemmanur was arrested in a sexual harassment case filed against him by a Malayalam actress. Chemmanur, lodged in the district jail, approached the High Court after the Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court II refused to grant him bail. After this he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. While considering the petition, Justice Kunhikrishnan said that ‘no special consideration can be taken in the case of Chemmanur.’
