Cold continues to wreak havoc in North India, dense fog and cold winds increase problems

The severity of cold is continuously increasing in North India. Even on Saturday morning, there was dense fog in many areas, due to which people’s daily routine was affected. Road traffic as well as trains are running late, and air services have also been affected. According to the Meteorological Department, this process of cold is not going to stop at the moment.

There is a possibility of light rain and cloudy sky with thunderstorm in Delhi-NCR. Cold winds can cause more melting than before. The department estimates that the maximum temperature of Delhi on Saturday will be around 15 degrees and the minimum temperature will be around 8 degrees Celsius. However, there is a possibility of light sunshine in the afternoon, which can be a relief news.

Possibility of cyclone and rain in South India

Cyclonic pressure is forming in the south-east region of the Bay of Bengal, which has now spread to the south-west Bay of Bengal.

  • Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema: Light to moderate rain is expected in the next 24 hours and from January 12 to 14.
  • On January 13, there may be rain or thundershowers over parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
  • The weather will remain dry over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam for the next seven days.

Kalingapatnam in the plains of Rayalaseema recorded a minimum temperature of 14.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday night, indicating the intensity of cold in the region.

Situation worsens due to fog and cold wave in Himachal

Cold wave and dense fog have affected life in many districts of Himachal Pradesh.

  • Affected districts: Cold wave has forced people to remain confined to their homes in Una, Hamirpur, Mandi and Barthin.
  • Fog problem: Drivers had to face a lot of problems due to dense fog in Bilaspur, Una, Mandi and Dehragopipur.
  • Temperature: The minimum temperature was recorded at minus seven places in the state, while three places recorded zero degrees Celsius.

Weather Forecast:

  • Light to moderate rain and snowfall may occur at some places in Himachal on January 11.
  • On January 12, there will be rain and snowfall in the central and high mountain areas, while light rain is expected in the lower areas.
  • The weather will remain clear from January 13.

Cold wave in Kashmir valley, possibility of snowfall

The havoc of cold is not stopping in Kashmir valley.

  • Minimum Temperature:
    • The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 4.3 degrees Celsius on Friday.
    • The temperature in Gulmarg was minus 8.1 degrees Celsius.
  • Snowfall forecast: Light snowfall may occur in higher altitude areas.

These days, a period of Chilla-e-Kalan is going on in Kashmir, which is considered to be the coldest and most difficult time of winter. The effect of cold has become even more intense due to the night temperature continuously remaining below the freezing point.
