Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Ludhiana West Gurpreet Bassi Gogi has died after being shot. Police said on Saturday, January 11, 2025, that the incident could have been a case of accidental firing from his licensed pistol.

Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskaran Singh Teja said:
“According to family members, he accidentally shot himself, hitting his head. He was immediately taken to DMC Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary for post-mortem.”

Police have said that the exact cause of death will become clear after the post mortem report comes. DCP Jaskaran Singh Teja said:
