In the famous Walayar case of Kerala, CBI has filed a charge sheet against the parents making serious allegations. The CBI has alleged that the parents instigated the rape of their daughters. This charge sheet has been presented in the CBI court located in Ernakulam. The accused have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to CBI, the parents face a serious charge of abetment of rape under Section 109 of the IPC. In this case, CBI has filed a chargesheet covering 6 different crimes.
Walayar Case: At a Glance
- Year 2017: Two minor sisters were found dead in their house in Walayar.

- Death of 13 year old elder sister:
On 7 January 2017, the body of a 13-year-old girl was found hanging in her house in Attappalam. - Death of 9 year old younger sister:
On 4 March 2017, the younger sister, aged 9, was also found hanging in the same house. - Postmortem report:
The report released on 12 March 2017 revealed that both sisters had been raped.

After the death of the sisters, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on 6 March 2017. - Police chargesheet:
On June 22, 2019, the police filed a charge sheet and declared these deaths as suicides. - Acquittal of the accused:
- On 9 October 2019, the court acquitted the main accused Pradeep Kumar due to lack of evidence.
- On 25 October 2019, other accused Shibu, M Madhu and V Madhu were also released.
