Delhi: AAP leader Manish Sisodia's troubles increased

Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia is in jail since February last year in the Delhi liquor case. The court has sentenced Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case. Due to which a hearing was held today in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, in which Manish Sisodia's troubles have increased in the liquor policy matter of Delhi.

Manish Sisodia's judicial custody has been extended till April 6

The judicial custody of former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia has been extended till April 6. Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday (March 19) extended Sisodia's judicial custody till April 6 during the hearing of the Delhi Liquor Policy case. In this case, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has got relief by appearing earlier. Manish Sisodia is in jail only last year.

Recently three days interim bail of niece has been granted.

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has granted three-day interim bail to Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia to attend his niece's wedding in Lucknow. Sisodia had sought bail from 12 to 16 February. But the court granted him bail from 13 to 15 February. Sisodia is lodged in Tihar jail in judicial custody in a case related to the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy scam.

CBI lawyer said while opposing the bail

CBI lawyer opposed the bail saying that Manish Sisodia is a very influential person. He is in a high and powerful position. This can tamper with the evidence. It said that only the bride and groom can ask for 5 days security for their marriage. One day's time can be given to attend the wedding.

What was the new liquor policy?

On March 22, 2021, Manish Sisodia announced the new liquor policy. On 17 November 2021, the new liquor policy i.e. Excise Policy 2021-22 was implemented. The government has come out of the liquor business by bringing a new liquor policy. And entire liquor shops went into private hands. The government's reasoning behind bringing the new policy was that it would end mafia rule and increase government revenue. However, the new policy was controversial from the beginning. As the uproar increased, on July 28, 2022, the government canceled the new liquor policy and reinstated the old policy.
