Putin became President of Russia for the 5th time by winning 88% votes with a record majority


Vladimir Putin has become the President of Russia for the fifth consecutive time. Putin received 88% of the votes in the voting held on March 15–17. His opponent Nikolay Kharitonov received 4% of the votes. Vladislav Davankov and Leonid Slutsky finished third and fourth. After the announcement of the results, Putin said – Now Russia will become more powerful and effective.

Putin also discussed the Russia-NATO conflict. He said- If America-led military organization NATO and Russia come face to face, then the world will be one step away from the Third World War. I don't think anyone would want something like that.

Putin became President of Russia for the first time in 2000. He remained on this post till 2008. In 2012, then-President Medvedev asked his party to once again nominate Putin as its presidential candidate. After this Putin won the 2012 elections and returned to power. Since then he has remained on the post of President.
