New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections and has also said that after this election, assembly elections will also be held in Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that due to security reasons it is not possible to conduct both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
He further said that since it is not possible to conduct both the elections simultaneously, they will be conducted separately. Assembly elections will be held first after the Lok Sabha elections. At present President's rule is in force in Jammu and Kashmir. Assembly elections have not been held for the last six years. However, the Supreme Court asked for early elections and full statehood. Due to which assembly elections can be held in Jammu and Kashmir till 30th September.
On the other hand, the Union Home Ministry has extended the ban on Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (Mohammed Yasin Malik Juth) for five years.
The Home Ministry has said that we have found enough evidence against JKLF Y, after which the decision to extend the ban has been taken. Juth is a threat to the security of the country. Earlier this party was declared illegal in 2019. There are reports that this banned party is still in contact with terrorist organizations. It is also supporting terrorism in other areas also.
Apart from this, four organizations of Jammu Kashmir People's League, JKPL (Mukhtar Ahmed Waza), JKPL (Bashir Ahmed Tota), JKPL (Ghulam Mohammad Khan) and JKPL (Aziz Shaikh) have been banned. These organizations were promoting terrorism.
