Controversy has arisen regarding Mahakumbh 2025. Akhara Parishad has given a sharp reaction to the alleged threats of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, pro-Khalistan and head of the banned organization “Sikh for Justice”. Pannu has threatened to disrupt the major bathing dates of Mahakumbh through a video, which has been strongly rejected by the Akhara Parishad.

Threatening video after killing of Khalistani terrorists

On Monday, three terrorists of Khalistani Zindabad Force were killed in a joint operation of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Police in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. After this, a video went viral in which Gurpatwant Singh Pannu threatened to target Mahakumbh. This video spread rapidly on social media, showing the major bathing dates of Mahakumbh – 14 January (Makar Sankranti), 29 January (Mauni Amavasya), and 3 February (Basant Panchami) – It was said that it would be disrupted.

Akhara Parishad’s sharp reply

Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad President Mahant Ravindra Puri took Pannu’s threats to task. He said,

“If people like Pannu try to step into the Mahakumbh, they will be beaten and chased away. We have handled such madmen in the past as well and can handle them in future also.”

Emphasis on Hindu-Sikh unity

Mahant Ravindra Puri emphasized that the Sikh and Hindu communities have always been one. He said,

“This is the Maha Kumbh Mela, where both Sikhs and Hindus come together to protect Sanatan Dharma. Sikh society has always preserved Sanatan Dharma. Pannu’s divisive remarks have no basis.”
Describing Sikhs as soldiers of Sanatan Dharma, he said that there is no difference between Naga Sadhus and Sikh warriors.

Appeal to not give importance to Pannu’s threats

Mahant Puri said that extremists like Gurpatwant Singh Pannu always use divisive language and try to attack Sanatan Dharma. He also said,

“Our three Akharas – Bada Udaasin Akhara, New Udaasin Akhara, and Nirmal Akhara – are connected to Punjab. The proven saints and mahatmas there are dedicated to protecting Sanatan Dharma. Therefore, militants like Pannu are unimportant to us.”

Increased attention on security of Mahakumbh

Keeping in mind the participation of lakhs of devotees in Mahakumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh administration and the central government have become alert regarding security. Strict monitoring will be done at the venue of Maha Kumbh and during major bathing dates.

Attack on religion and faith will not be tolerated

Akhara Parishad and saints of Sanatan Dharma have made it clear that any kind of attack on religion and faith will not be acceptable. Mahant Ravindra Puri said,

“Maha Kumbh is not just an event, but the center of faith of crores of people. “Anyone trying to disrupt it will be given a befitting reply.”

Appeal to maintain unity in society

Akhara Parishad stressed on maintaining unity between Hindu and Sikh communities. Ignoring Pannu’s words, he called for mutual harmony and unity.
