The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was out of power in Delhi for 26 years, is preparing to make a comeback in the upcoming assembly elections. This time BJP is planning to challenge the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s big programs and development schemes related to Delhi.
Two major programs of PM Modi
December 28: Inauguration of Metro Phase-Four in Rohini.
- Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Metro Phase-IV during an event at the Japanese Park in Rohini.
- Namo Bharat train is likely to start operating up to New Ashok Nagar on the same day.
January 3: Event in North-East Delhi
- Modi can inaugurate two phases of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway here.
- Along with this, other development schemes including Dwarka Expressway are also likely to be inaugurated.
BJP’s strategy:
- BJP has planned to create an election atmosphere through these programmes.
- After PM Modi’s programs, BJP will organize programs of other leaders region wise.
Impact of electoral process and code of conduct
- Assembly elections in Delhi may be announced in the first week of January.
- The final voter list will be published on January 5. After this, the code of conduct will come into force, due to which the inauguration and foundation stone laying of development works will stop.

- BJP has not yet released the first list of candidates for the assembly seats.
- AAP and Congress have released many of their lists, but churning is still going on in BJP.
- According to sources, the list of candidates is likely to be released after PM Modi’s programs.

- After discussion at the state level, the list of names has been sent to the high command.
- After the consent of the central leaders, the first list will be released, which may also include names of former MPs.
