Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed his top position in the ICC men’s Test bowling rankings after his brilliant performance in Brisbane. In this rain-affected match, Bumrah took nine wickets for 94 runs. This strong performance earned him 14 additional rating points and the highest rating of his career.
Bumrah’s performance so far in Tests
Bumrah, who made his Test debut against South Africa in Cape Town in 2018, has taken 194 Test wickets at an average of 19.53 and an economy of 2.75. During this period, he has taken 5 or more wickets in an innings 12 times. His best performance in Test innings was 6 wickets for 27 runs and in matches 9 wickets for 86 runs.
Bumrah equaled Ashwin’s record
This fast bowler now has 904 rating points. With this he has equaled the record of former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. In 2016, Ashwin had achieved the highest rating (904). He thus became the joint highest rated Indian Test bowler in ICC history. Kagiso Rabada of South Africa is in second place and Josh Hazlewood of Australia is in third place.
