Action will be taken if more than Rs 50 thousand cash is found: Chief Electoral Officer

Ranchi, March 16 (HS). As soon as the Lok Sabha elections were announced, the code of conduct across the country including Jharkhand has come into effect from today i.e. March 16. Under this, the Election Commission of India has issued many guidelines. The Election Commission of India will keep a close watch on this in this election also. If someone is leaving with more than Rs 50,000 in cash without any proof, then he will come under the scrutiny of the Election Commission. Similarly, if cash worth more than Rs 10 lakh is recovered from you, the Election Commission team will immediately get it investigated by the Income Tax Department.

After the announcement of elections by the Election Commission of India, Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar, while addressing the journalists, said that there is no restriction for cash up to Rs 50,000, but if more than this is found, then you will get this money. Information about the same will have to be given and if the region is not valid, action can be taken. Similarly, if cash worth more than Rs 10 lakh is recovered, it will be immediately informed to the Income Tax Department. The Income Tax team will investigate and take action in this matter.

He said that the Commission will keep an eye on the political parties as well as the candidates during the elections regarding the Model Code of Conduct. For this, the Election Commission of India has issued detailed guidelines related to the Model Code of Conduct. According to the guidelines issued, when political parties are criticized, it will be limited to their policies and programs, past record and work. Parties and candidates shall refrain from criticizing all aspects of the personal life of leaders or workers of other parties that are not connected with their public activities.

Not only this, no appeal will be made on the basis of caste or sectarian sentiments to get votes. Mosques, churches, temples and other places of worship will not be used as election campaign platforms. Not only this, no political party or candidate will allow its followers to put flags, hang banners, paste information, write slogans etc. on any person's land, walls of building premises etc. without the permission of any person.
