Surat: Surat’s diamond industry is in recession but BJP leaders are doing nothing to save it. If there is no brake on diamonds coming from China, the problems of the diamond industry will increase. By gifting a synthetic diamond to the wife of the American President, the Prime Minister gave a message to the world that real diamonds are not made in India.

But instead of stopping this, the Prime Minister went to America and gifted a synthetic diamond to the wife of the President there. Due to which the message was sent to the world that real diamonds are not made in India.
When the Prime Minister went to America, he requested to give a presentation to change the decision of G-8 countries not to buy rough diamonds from Russia. But this was not done due to which India’s diamond industry had to suffer losses.
Amit Chavda said that the Prime Minister of the country is going around the world and getting praise for diamonds. But the jewelers who cut diamonds are in trouble today. There are 10 lakh unregistered artisans. BJP’s Union Minister and State President, Gujarat Home Minister are also from Surat. 12 MLAs also belong to BJP but none of them went to the jewellers.
He said that we are demanding the government to immediately set up a Gemstone Artists Welfare Board.
