Bathinda: After a video of Gacha being crushed with feet in a factory in Goniana Mandi went viral on Tuesday, the administration took immediate action and started investigation. The factory where the incident took place has been sealed, and other gacha manufacturing factories in the district are also being investigated. ADC General Poonam Singh has ordered the food safety team of the health department to inspect all the gacha manufacturing factories.
The ADC asked the teams to check the licenses related to the food items and also asked for a detailed report on the processing and cleanliness of the food items. He said that if any factory is running without a license, action will be taken against it and it can also be sealed.
Recently, a social worker of Goniana Mandi had made a video which went viral, in which Gacha and other food items were shown being prepared using people’s feet instead of machines in a factory located in Dashmesh Nagar. The video showed that peanuts were being crushed and peeled with feet, while no attention was paid to the cleanliness of the surroundings.
After the video came to light, ADC Poonam Singh directed the district health department officials to take strict action. As a result, the District Health Officer and the Health Department team sealed the factory and also sealed all the plasters prepared there. Their samples were sent to the lab for testing. Investigation found that the owner of this factory did not have any license, and it was being run completely illegally.

Assistant Food Commissioner Amritpal Singh Said that the factory has been sealed and the concrete in the samples taken from there was found to be dirty and of low quality. Furthermore, the factory owner Vinod Kumar Instructions have been given to issue challan and appear before Bathinda ADC office.
