Hisar, 16 March (Hissar). Professor Dr. Bimalendra Kumari of Haryana Agricultural University has been honored with the MS Swaminathan Award. This award was given to him in a grand event organized at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He was given this award for his excellent contribution in the field of forestry.
On this occasion, Dr. Avinash Tiwari, Vice Chancellor of Jiwaji University, Gwalior and Vice Chancellor of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University, Dr. Arvind Kumar Shukla and other distinguished scientists and eminent intellectuals were present as the chief guests. This conference was jointly organized by Agri-Meet Foundation and RVS Agricultural University. A high level committee is constituted for the selection of MS Swaminathan Award and on the basis of its recommendation, this award is given to the winner.
Professor Bimalendra Kumari has done her graduation and post graduation degree from Punjabi University. He did his PhD degree from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. Professor Vimalendra Kumari has been a gold medalist. He contributed a lot to the farmers while working as Attic Manager in Haryana Agricultural University. While working as Associate Director of Publications, he ran the prestigious General of Haryana Agricultural University smoothly. Professor Vimalendra Kumari is an international level scientist who was a former professor and head of the department in the Forestry Department of Haryana Agricultural University. During his tenure, he has also got the opportunity to travel to many foreign countries for research work, such as America, Canada, Germany, Australia, Turkey, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, China, Singapore. He also got the opportunity to do a post-doctoral fellowship in South Korea. Professor Bimalendra Kumari has also received many prestigious awards during her tenure, such as Best Professor Award in the year 2019, Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2018, etc. Professor Bimalendra Kumari has also been a member of many prestigious general committees. Under his guidance, 34 students obtained bachelor's degree and 21 students obtained Doctor of Philosophy degree. Professor Vimalendra Kumari has 34 years of experience in teaching, research and extension. He has more than 130 research publications, 20 books and many manuals published. During his tenure, he has also got the opportunity to visit many foreign countries. At present Professor Vimalendra Kumari is working as Dean in the College of Agriculture in Baddi University, Himachal Pradesh.
Dr. Bimalendra Kumari expressed happiness on receiving this award and described the Vice-Chancellor of Haryana Agricultural University, Dr. Baldev Raj Kamboj as a source of inspiration, following the path shown by her, she received this award and his guidance proved beneficial for receiving this award. He told that it is a matter of joy that some time before him, Vice Chancellor Prof. Baldev Raj Kamboj was awarded this prestigious award. It is a matter of pride for the scientists of Haryana Agricultural University that two outstanding scientists from the same institution have been awarded this honour. Professor Bimalendra Kumari called for more scientists to work hard and get the prestigious MS Swaminathan Award.
