Police Encounter In Pilibhit:On Monday morning, Punjab and UP Police killed three Khalistani terrorists in an encounter in a joint operation in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. These terrorists were associated with a terrorist organization called ‘Khalistan Zindabad Force’ and were accused of attacking a police post in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
How did the encounter happen?
The encounter took place near Hardoi Branch Canal in Puranpur area at around 5 am. After tracing the location of the three terrorists, UP and Punjab police surrounded the area. The entire area echoed with the sound of bullets and panic spread in the surrounding villages.
Identification of killed terrorists
The three terrorists killed in the encounter have been identified:
- Gurvinder Singh (25 years): Resident of Mohalla Kalanaur, Thana Kalanaur, District Gurdaspur, Punjab.
- Virendra Singh alias Ravi (23 years): Resident of village Agwan, police station Kalanaur, district Gurdaspur, Punjab.
- Jasan Preet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18 years): Resident of village Nikka Sur, police station Kalanaur, district Gurdaspur, Punjab.

Police recovered huge quantity of weapons from the encounter site:
- Two AK-47 rifles.
- Two Glock pistols.
- Huge quantity of cartridges.
What was the objective of the terrorists?
These terrorists were wanted in the case of grenade attack on a police post in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Punjab Police was searching for them since the incident. After the location was traced, a plan was made to surround them with the help of UP Police.
Policeman injured during encounter
Two UP Police constables were also injured in the encounter:
- Constable Sumit Rathi (Station Madhotanda).
- Mohammad Shahnawaz (SOG team member).
The injured soldiers were admitted to CHC Puranpur for first aid.
Security environment at the scene
Security has been increased in the area after the encounter. SP visited the incident site and gathered complete information. Also, police have increased patrolling in the nearby villages so that an atmosphere of peace and security is maintained.
