CWG gold medalist Achinta Shuli : Commonwealth Games gold medalist weightlifter Achinta Shuli was caught entering the women's hostel at NIS Patiala at night, following which she has been dropped from the Paris Olympics preparation camp. The incident happened on Thursday night. Achinta, who was competing in the men's 73 kg category, was caught by security personnel and videotaped.
Investigation panel not formed due to video evidence
An official of the Indian Weightlifting Federation said, “Such indiscipline will not be tolerated.” Achinta was asked to leave the camp immediately. Sports Authority of India (SAI) and NIS Patiala Executive Director Vineet Kumar were immediately informed about this. Due to the presence of video evidence, SAI did not constitute an investigation panel.

A SAI source said, “The video has been sent to NIS Patiala executive director Vineet Kumar and the SAI headquarters in Delhi. The Weightlifting Federation has been asked to remove Achinta from the camp. Achinta won gold medal with a new record at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Achinta's hopes of qualifying for the Olympics are over
The weightlifting federation had earlier also expelled Commonwealth and Youth Olympic champion Jeremy Lalrinnuga from the national camp for indiscipline.
