Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 has started and a big record has been broken on the very first day of the tournament. Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh scored an unbeaten century against Arunachal Pradesh and in the process also set the record for the fastest century by any Indian in List A cricket. Till now this record was in the name of former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan but now after 14 years Anmolpreet has broken it. Thanks to his brilliant innings, Anmolpreet led his team Punjab to a one-sided victory.
Yusuf Pathan’s record broken
Earlier this record was in the name of Yusuf Pathan. Yusuf played an unbeaten inning of 108 runs in 42 balls against Maharashtra in 2010. During this, he completed his century in 40 balls, which is the fastest century scored by any Indian in List A cricket. Last year, Urvil Patel of Gujarat also scored a century in 41 balls.
This player scored the fastest century
If we look at the overall list of batsmen who have scored the fastest century in List A cricket, the name of Australia’s Jack Fraser-McGurk is on the top. In the year 2023, while playing for South Australia against Tasmania, McGurk scored a century in just 29 balls. He played an innings of 125 runs in 38 balls in the match. In second place is South African legend AB de Villiers, who scored a century in just 31 balls against West Indies in 2015.
Anmolpreet remained unsold in IPL 2025 auction
Punjab Cricket Association’s young batsman Anmolpreet Singh has not been sold in the IPL 2025 auction. Earlier, he had participated in IPL 2024 for Hyderabad and in the year 2021, he started his IPL career for Mumbai Indians. After seeing his aggressive batting, it is being said that now any franchise can approach him as a replacement.
