India’s great spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is receiving a lot of congratulations after retiring from international cricket. Young spinner Washington Sundar, who plays for Tamil Nadu along with Ashwin, was also among those who congratulated him. After retirement, Ashwin has now announced the name of his successor through a message. He is none other than Sundar, who is the perfect replacement for Ashwin at present.
Good post for Ashwin
Sundar wrote a special message for Ashwin when he announced his retirement after the third Test was drawn at the Gabba. He wrote, ‘Apart from being a teammate, you Ash Anna are an inspiration to me. It has been an honor to share the field and dressing room with you. Coming from the same state as Tamil Nadu, I have grown up watching you guys play at the Chepauk Stadium. Every moment spent with you is a great privilege for me. Whatever you have taught me on and off the field, I will always carry it with me. I wish you success and happiness in your future.
In response to this, Ashwin said, ‘Thuppakiya Pudinga Vashi!, the best two-minute conversation with you while meeting everyone after retirement was the best. Let us tell you that ‘Thuppakiya Pudinga Vashi’ means hold the gun. In this way Ashwin has handed over his legacy to Sundar.
Sundar got a chance in place of Ashwin in the first test.
India replaced Ashwin with Sundar in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia, where he took two wickets in the second Test against the Kangaroos. He contributed 29 runs with the bat and played an important role in India’s 295-run victory. Talking about his career, so far he has taken 24 wickets in 7 test matches and scored 387 runs with the bat.
