Ahmedabad: During February 2024, 126.48 lakh people traveled by air on domestic routes in the country and more than 1.55 lakh passengers were affected by flight delays. Domestic air traffic grew 4.8 percent year-on-year in February, according to official data released on Friday.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said in its monthly report that 1.26 crore domestic passengers traveled by air in February, compared to 1.21 crore in the same period a year ago. However, there has been a decline in air traffic as compared to January 2024 as the number of landings in January stood at 1.31 crore.
Air India's market share increased to 12.8 percent from 12.2 percent in February, while IndiGo's market share declined marginally to 60.1 percent from 60.2 percent in January. SpiceJet's domestic market share fell to 5.2 per cent from 5.6 per cent, while Vistara and Akasa Air managed to maintain 9.9 per cent and 4.5 per cent respectively. According to the data, Air India's on-time performance in February was 56.4 percent. Whereas SpiceJet had 59.1 percent.
With this, a total of 257.78 lakh passengers traveled by domestic airlines during January-February, 2024, while a total of 246.11 lakh passengers traveled with a growth of 4.74 per cent year-on-year and 4.80 per cent month-on-month, the regulator said. he said. , The flight cancellations affected 29,143 passengers and the airlines spent Rs 99.96 lakh as compensation and facilities.
