Mumbai – The trend of ordering groceries and other items from home through mobile apps has started increasing in Mumbai. This has adversely affected the demand for retail shops in the city. In a recent survey conducted in seven suburbs of Mumbai, 60 percent of grocery shopkeepers admitted that their business has declined due to quick transactions. 77 percent shopkeepers said that their business has decreased by 30 percent and they have demanded the government’s intervention in this matter.

Delivery agents of quick commerce companies have started crowding the streets of Mumbai. It is now becoming convenient for people to get whatever they remember sitting at home within ten to fifteen minutes. There are many nuclear families in Mumbai where both husband and wife are working and they do not have time to go to the grocery store to buy groceries. A large number of senior citizens are also now relying on Quick Commerce.

However, this trend has created concern among shoppers. According to the logic of quick commerce companies, they attract customers who shop online, not grocery store customers. However, All India Traders Association has rejected this claim of Quick Commerce. According to the association, there is huge foreign investment in these rapid commerce companies. Therefore now they are able to trade even at losses. Retailers face tough competition. However, the association has recommended partnership between quick commerce companies and kirana shopkeepers for fair competition.

The survey also highlighted growing dissatisfaction among grocery shoppers. 62 percent grocery owners have demanded government intervention in this matter. They have expressed concerns about distributors and brands giving preference to instant commerce companies, leading to price disparity.

The survey also found that twenty-five percent of grocers are meeting the challenges of accelerated commerce by diversifying their merchandise, offering home delivery services, packing items in smaller packages and offering discounts on bulk purchases to their customers. Trying to complete.
