Mumbai: Before the arrival of New Year, agencies in Mumbai have seized drugs worth more than Rs 15 crore in different operations.
Ganja worth Rs 11.32 crore was seized from a tourist in Bangkok on the night of Thursday to Friday. Customs officials seized 11.322 kg of contraband from the passenger’s broken bag. A quantity of drugs was concealed in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag and placed in a crumpled bag. The tourist was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Keeping this in mind, New Year will be celebrated in a few days, NCBA has increased vigilance at the airport. On Tuesday, 13 kg of ganja was seized from the luggage coming to Mumbai from Bangkok. The agency started investigation and identified a person from Kolhapur and the NCB team went to Kolhapur and caught the accused on Thursday.
In another operation, the agency seized a suspicious parcel from a post office in Mumbai. Out of which, NCB started investigating 1.23 grams of mescoline drug suppliers i.e. in what quantity and who was to receive it and arrested a person. 489 grams of ganja was found from the accused’s house, which was grown in the balcony of the accused’s bedroom. The accused confessed that the drug mescaline was ordered from the dark web.
Meanwhile, Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Crime Branch arrested two drug smugglers in Dahe Colony area and seized heroin worth Rs 1.15 crore from them. ANC Ghatkopar got the information and arrested both the accused. .
