Israel’s attack on Yemen Israel launched an airstrike on Yemen’s Houthi rebels in their capital after a missile attack on central Israel. At least nine people were killed in rebel attacks on the capital and port city. It is believed that after this Israeli attack, the conflict with Iran-backed Houthi rebels is intensifying.
Global trade has been affected by the attack by Houthi rebels on the Red Sea. The Houthi rebels have so far refrained from launching heavy military attacks on Israel, although they have launched more than 200 missile attacks on Israel since 7 October 2023. Thus they helped Palestine’s Hamas and Israel’s Hezbollah fighting against Israel.
The Israeli army said that it carried out the attack in two phases. The operation began early Thursday and involved 14 jets. The first attacks targeted the infrastructure of Holida, Saif port and the Ras Isa oil terminal in the Red Sea.
In the second phase of the attack, warplanes targeted Houthi electricity infrastructure in Sanaa city.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has already said that after the end of three anti-Israel regimes, Hamas, Hezbollah and Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, the only anti-Israel regime now is that of Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The Houthi rebels are the final stage of Iran’s proxy war, and their elimination would mean Iran’s foothold throughout the Middle East.
Anyone who harms Israel will have to pay a heavy price. The situation on the electricity front here has worsened after Israel attacked two power plants in Sana’a city. Given the poor state of the city’s infrastructure, only those who have money can buy electricity. Power cuts have become a daily occurrence in most of the shops, offices etc. in Sana’a city.
