Three dozen vehicles burnt to ashes after collision between gas tanker and truck

A horrific road accident took place in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur on Friday morning. A massive fire broke out after a collision between a gas tanker and a truck in Bhankrota area on Ajmer Road. In this incident, more than three dozen vehicles were burnt to ashes. In the accident, many people were burnt alive on the spot, while many seriously burnt people were taken to the hospital.

The accident happened at 5:30 in the morning
The incident occurred near Pushparaj Petrol Pump at around 5:30 am. A trolley coming from behind hit a gas tanker full of LPG heavily. After the collision, gas started leaking from the tanker and it caught fire, after which a big explosion occurred. Vehicles within a radius of 300 meters were hit by the fire. According to local people, the explosion was so powerful that its sound was heard up to 10 kilometers away.

Heavy damage and high flames
After the blast, the fire from the tanker engulfed the vehicles parked nearby. These included a sleeper bus, several trucks, cars, bikes and other vehicles. At the time of the incident, the petrol pump tanks were also close to the fire, but fortunately the fire did not reach there. Local residents said that the flames were so high that they could be seen from a great distance.

Rescue operation of fire department and police
As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire department reached the spot. About 30 fire vehicles were deployed to control the fire. Firefighters had to work for several hours to extinguish the fire. At the same time, the work of taking the injured to the hospital through ambulance was started.

Three died on the spot, dozens injured
Three people died on the spot, while around 35 injured were admitted to SMS Hospital. The condition of many of them is very serious. By 9 am, four bodies had reached the hospital. Many of the injured have suffered serious burns and are undergoing treatment.

Chief Minister and Home Minister visited the incident site
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reached the hospital and inquired about the well being of the injured and gave instructions for their better treatment. After this he visited the incident site and took stock of the situation. He expressed condolences to the affected families and assured all possible help.

Rajasthan Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedam said, “The accident occurred due to the collision between a tanker and a truck while taking a U-turn. The fire was so severe that nearby vehicles also got affected. The administration immediately swung into action and started relief work. Arrangements are being made for compensation to the families of the deceased and treatment of the injured. We have issued a helpline number, and efforts are on to get the road cleared as soon as possible.”

Government’s condolences and relief work
The government has assured all possible help to the families of the deceased. Local administration teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. Efforts are being made to clear the road as soon as possible and normalize the traffic.
