BJP Complaint Against Rahul Gand

The incident of pushing and shoving in Parliament on Thursday has further heated up the political atmosphere. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint against Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi at Sansad Marg police station in Delhi. BJP has filed a case against Rahul Gandhi under sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131 and 351 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), accusing him of attempt to murder.

Push-pull incident: How did it start?

Congress MPs were protesting in Parliament on Thursday morning over the remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Meanwhile, BJP MPs also joined the protest. The situation went out of control when MPs from both the parties came face to face.

  • BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured in this incident.
  • BJP alleged that Rahul Gandhi instigated the MPs and scuffled with them.

Anurag Thakur’s statement

BJP MP Anurag Thakur speaking on the incident said:

“We have filed a police complaint against Rahul Gandhi. He deliberately provoked and physically attacked NDA MPs. Mukesh Rajput got head injury and Pratap Sarangi’s head got injured.”

Thakur made serious allegations against Rahul Gandhi saying that:

“Rahul Gandhi did not listen to the security forces and deliberately went on the path where NDA MPs were protesting. His attitude was angry and criminal. This family always considers itself above the law.”

allegation of bansuri swaraj

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj termed Rahul Gandhi’s behavior as “indecent and criminal”. He said:

“The security forces have repeatedly requested Rahul Gandhi that an alternative route has been made for him, through which he can enter Parliament peacefully. But they rejected this request and created an atmosphere of confrontation.”

Bansuri stressed that this attitude of Rahul Gandhi was a threat to the safety of MPs, and that is why a complaint has been filed against him.

IPC sections: On what charges was the case registered?

BJP has registered a case against Rahul Gandhi under many serious sections. These include:

  1. Section 109: Abetment of attempt to murder.
  2. Section 115: If the crime had been committed, it would have been considered attempt to murder.
  3. Section 117: Incitement to cause public violence.
  4. Section 125: Disturbing public order.
  5. Section 131: Attempt to incite riot.
  6. Section 351: Threat to commit assault.

Congress’s counterattack

Congress has termed these allegations of BJP as completely baseless. The party has said that this is an attempt to divert attention from the issue. Congress spokesperson said:

“BJP is deliberately trying to suppress the voice of the opposition. Rahul Gandhi had tried to express his views in a peaceful manner, but the ruling party gave it a wrong colour.”

Political meaning of the incident

This incident of pushing and shoving in Parliament has become a symbol of the deepening conflict between the opposition and the government.

  • BJP: Calling Rahul Gandhi aggressive and irresponsible.
  • Congress: Considering this a strategy of BJP, it is calling it an attempt to “divert attention from public issues”.
