Mumbai: Satara District Sessions Court has rejected the bail plea of the judge who was caught taking bribe in a hotel located in the premises of Satara Sessions Court to grant bail to the accused.
A hearing was held on the bail application of Dhananjay Nikam, who was caught taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The court refused to grant him bail. Four people including Judge Nikam were caught by Anti Corruption Bureau officials by laying a trap. In one case, the judge demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in exchange for granting bail to the suspect. On the basis of the information given by the complainant, ACB gave the raid.
Courts are viewed with respect because everyone is entitled to justice. Despite the injustice done by the police, there is a feeling among the people that they will get justice from the court. But if the judge is caught taking bribe then the judiciary will be doubted. The court said that Judge Nikam has done the work of defaming the work of the court.
