A heart-wrenching incident took place on Wednesday morning in Shivnagar area of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Six people died while 3 fell unconscious in a massive fire that broke out in a house due to short circuit. A total of 9 people were sleeping in the house at the time of the accident.
The condition of the neighbor who came to help also deteriorated.
During the relief and rescue operations, a neighbor who came to help has also been reported unconscious. The unconscious people are being treated at GMC Hospital in Kathua. As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and started the work of extinguishing the fire.

- Avatar Krishna – 81 years
- Barkha Raina – 25 years

Short circuit became the cause of the accident
Preliminary investigation revealed that the cause of the fire in the house was short circuit. Due to the sudden fire, smoke spread throughout the house, causing suffocation to the sleeping people.
Relief and rescue operations continue
- As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire brigade teams reached the spot.
- Fire brigade vehicles are busy controlling the fire.
- The injured were immediately admitted to GMC Kathua, where their condition remains critical.
