Low-pressure area in Bay of Bengal: Alert of heavy rain

Today a low pressure area is formed in the south-west of the Bay of Bengal. The cyclonic circulation associated with it extends to mid-tropospheric levels.

Affected areas:

  • This system may move towards Tamil Nadu coast in the next 2 days.
  • Due to this, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on 18-19 December.
  • Rain is expected in Puducherry between 17-20 December.
  • There will be clouds in Kerala during 17-21 December.
  • There is a possibility of light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning in Odisha on December 19-20.
  • Strong winds may also blow in these states during this period.

Cold wave and severe cold wave conditions will persist over North-West India for the next 5-7 days.

Delhi-NCR weather update

The minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR has increased by 1 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours.
