Prayagraj is ready equipped with AI and state-of-the-art technology

The holy city of Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj is all set for the Mahakumbh Mela of 2025. This time Mahakumbh will be organized from 13 January 2025 to 26 February 2025. Unprecedented preparations have been made to welcome 45 crore devotees in the world’s largest religious event. Many new technologies will be used to make Mahakumbh 2025 historically and technologically cutting-edge.

Operation of Mahakumbh through technology

For the smooth conduct of Mahakumbh 2025, many state-of-the-art arrangements have been made with the help of Prayagraj Mela Authority and Smart City Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC). Artificial Intelligence (AI), chatbots, live surveillance, and cyber security will be used for the first time.

  • 328 AI-based cameras will be installed in the fair area, which will monitor people through face recognition system.
  • 1,650 new CCTV cameras, 24 APNR cameras and 40 VMCDs are being deployed.
  • 268 AI components and 240 smart sensors will be installed for crowd management and vehicle count.

Cyber ​​Police Station for the first time

Cyber ​​police station has been set up in the fair premises to control cyber activities like misuse of dark web and social media in Prayagraj Mahakumbh. This police station will monitor cyber threats with the help of AI and ensure prompt action.

Role of AI cameras

AI-based cameras will play a special role in preventing incidents of missing devotees in Mahakumbh:

  1. Instant Identification: The missing person will be identified through AI by taking photographs.
  2. Use of social media: Information and photos of the missing person will be shared on social media platforms such as Facebook and X (Twitter).
  3. Face Recognition Technology: All major places in the fair premises will be monitored through face recognition technology.

ICCC center monitoring

Various areas of the Maha Kumbh Mela will be monitored from the ICCC Centre, MCR Centre, and Arail and Jhunsi Viewing Centres. AI-controlled CCTV cameras will ensure crowd management and safety at 9 major railway stations.

New system for grievance redressal

  • 20 new seats have been added to the call center for quick resolution of complaints.
  • State-of-the-art systems have been installed for smart parking and traffic control.

missing person identification process

AI and social media will be coordinated to find missing person in Mahakumbh:

  • AI cameras will immediately start the identification process by capturing the person’s photo.
  • Information will be sent to family members by sharing information through social media.
  • Identity certificate has been made mandatory for information about a missing person.
