12 Indian citizens died due to carbon monoxide leak in Georgia, Indian Mission expressed grief

The Indian Embassy in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, has informed that at least 12 Indian citizens died in a restaurant due to carbon monoxide gas. The accident took place at Gudauri Ski Resort, where all the bodies were recovered on the second floor of an Indian food restaurant building.

Indian Mission expressed condolences

The Indian Embassy expressed deep sorrow over the incident, saying:

“We have learned of the tragic death of 12 Indian nationals in Gudauri, Georgia. We express our deepest condolences to the bereaved families. The Mission is in touch with the local authorities and will provide all possible assistance.”

Initial findings in the investigation

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, preliminary investigations have not revealed any injuries or signs of violence. However, the Indian Embassy said all 12 deceased were Indian citizens, while the Georgian ministry said the dead included 11 foreign nationals and one Georgian national.

  • When the building lost power on Friday night, an oil-fired generator was started.
