Indore: Renovation of ponds and water harvesting work started in the district

Indore, March 15 (HS). Under the Jal-Hath campaign, which was started on the initiative of Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat in the district, the work of renovation of ponds and water storage has been started. Under this, works worth more than Rs. 1.25 crore have been approved by the District Panchayat.

“Jal-Hath” campaign is being conducted for pond conservation and prosperity with the participation of Water Resources Department, Revenue Department and Panchayat and Rural Development Department. In Indore district, a meeting of public representatives was organized recently under the chairmanship of Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat at the district level to invite public participation in the said campaign and to connect the public representatives with the campaign. In which MLA Rau Madhu Verma, District Panchayat President Reena Satish Malviya, Vice President District Panchayat Bharatsingh Patel and presidents of all four Janpad Panchayats of the district had called for turning the “Jal-Hath” campaign into a mass movement with public participation.

Collector Ashish Singh gave instructions to take up the restoration work of 51 ponds in the campaign in the district, following which a total of 53 works were identified – 17 in District Panchayat Depalpur, 16 in District Panchayat Saver, 11 in District Panchayat Mhow and 09 in District Panchayat Indore. Have gone. Under the campaign, approval of Rs 113.69 lakh has been issued by Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat, Siddharth Jain for renovation and strengthening of 14 ponds under MNREGA.

District Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain said on Friday that deepening work will be done in 24 places under the campaign. With public participation, the silt from the pond will be removed and the fertile soil will be transported to the farmers' fields at the farmers' expense. Deepening work has started at 06 places in the district. In the works selected under the campaign, instructions have been given by District Collector Ashish Singh to the concerned sub-divisional officers to demarcate the ponds by revenue officers and make these ponds encroachment free in 21 ponds. Due to which the water storage capacity of these ponds will be increased.
