Lucknow, 15 December (Hindu). In a seminar organized under the joint aegis of Uttar Pradesh Gau Seva Aayog and Model Biogas Group, Uttar Pradesh Gau Seva Aayog Chairman Shyam Bihari Gupt said that if every farmer adopts a cow, the problem of cattle in Uttar Pradesh will be solved. Cow based natural farming will not only help in improving agricultural land by increasing soil bio mass but will also promote other cottage industries related to cow rearing in rural areas.

The prominent speakers at the One Farmer One Cow campaign seminar were Dr. Kamal Towari (former IAS, former Secretary, Government of India), Niranjan Guru (Vice Chancellor, Panchagavya Vidyapeetham University, Chennai) and P.S. Ojha (former advisor, Agriculture Department, Uttar Pradesh, and former member, Uttar Pradesh Bio Energy Development Board) presented his views. Chairman of Gau Seva Aayog, Shyam Bihari Gupt, who was the special guest, said that through natural farming, we will be able to provide chemical free food to our society. This will not only bring welfare to the farmers but will also provide healthy and safe food to the entire society.

Dr. Kamal Tawari, who was the special guest, said on the economic condition of the cow shelters that the cow shelters cannot be made self-reliant unless they get economic benefits from the cow progeny. Instead of keeping Gaushalas dependent on grants, we have to work towards running them under a solid business model. He suggested that we have to develop Gaushalas as a self-supporting unit. So that they can also earn economic benefits from the products obtained from cow progeny like milk, dung, cow urine and other Panchgavya products.

Dr. Tawari said that until the cow shelters become financially independent, they will remain dependent on grants. To solve this problem, we will have to implement a suitable business model in the state as soon as possible, which can make the cow shelters financially strong.

PS Ojha said that biogas plant is not only a way to utilize the residue generated from cattle, but it also helps in providing cheap and clean energy to the farmers. Along with this, organic fertilizer can be produced from the remains obtained from cattle, which is extremely beneficial for natural farming.

He discussed in detail about biogas technology and its agricultural and environmental benefits. Along with this, organic fertilizer can be produced from the remains obtained from cattle, which is very beneficial for natural farming. He also said that biogas technology can improve the economic condition of farmers and from environmental point of view it is also a stable and long-term solution.
