Lucknow, 15 December (HS). In protest against the handing over of Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal Electricity Distribution Corporation to private companies, the Electricity Employees Joint Struggle Committee will now go directly among the general public and conduct extensive public relations. A strategy has been made to expose the wrongdoings being done by the Power Corporation among the public. The Sangharsh Committee prepared the outline and strategy for the Bijli Panchayat to be held in Agra on 17 December and the huge Bijli Panchayat to be held in the capital Lucknow on 22 December. The Sangharsh Committee has appealed to the electricity workers that the government’s OT which started from December 15, Get fully involved in making this campaign a success.

Officials of Sangharsh Samiti organized the campaign “Make India of Martyrs’ Dreams – Remove Privatization of Electricity” on 19 December, on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Kakori’s immortal martyr Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh and Rajendra Lahiri. Strategy also prepared. On December 19, all 27 lakh electricity workers of the country will do this program at the district and project headquarters in all the provinces.

Sangharsh Samiti said that reform has always been the primary duty of Sangharsh Samiti. Therefore, for the success of OTS, electricians should work with full force. He said that “reform and struggle” is our basic mantra. Success was achieved in Kesco with this mantra. By adopting this mantra once again, we will engage in reforms and the struggle against privatization will also continue after office hours.

The Sangharsh Committee said that according to the data of Power Corporation in Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam, AT&C losses in the year 2023-24 are 25.26 percent, whereas it has been found that 49.32 percent losses have been mentioned in the RFP document. Similarly, in Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam, AT&C losses in the year 2023-24 are 22.75 percent, whereas in the RFP document, these losses are stated to be 34.33 percent. In the last 14 years, Power Corporation has suffered a loss of Rs 2434 crore in providing electricity to Torrent Power Company in Agra at a lower price than the purchase price.

Sangharsh Committee officials Rajeev Singh, Jitendra Singh Gurjar, Girish Pandey, Mahendra Rai, Suhail Abid, P.K. Dixit, Rajendra Ghildiyal etc. raised questions on the intentions of the Power Corporation management and said that they are working in 42 out of 75 districts of the state. It is so enthusiastic about handing over the power supply of OTS to private hands that instead of talking about OTS in the video conferencing meetings of OTS, it is creating fear among the employees. People are being threatened with dismissal for opposing privatization. It seems as if the Shakti Bhawan management has no other agenda except privatization. In Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam, the attitude of the MD as well as the Director Personnel is also under suspicion.
