Barabanki, 14 December (HS). Photo exhibition on Biodiversity was organized at the Officers Club on Saturday. It was inaugurated by UPPCF MD Sanjay Kumar. He said that for safe human life it is necessary to have lakes, ponds, rivers, trees, plants and forests. Due to threat to their existence, human life can be in danger. 20 to 25 years ago, eight species of vultures were found in the world and five in India. These have now disappeared up to 99 percent. The reason for this has been revealed in many researches by giving injection of oxytocin to animals. The cattle which were given this injection and whenever they died and were eaten by vultures, they also got stomach cancer. Similarly, our eco system is deteriorating due to the use of plastic. Similarly, with the increase in population, the demand for water is increasing and if water is not saved then it will be difficult for people to get drinking water in the future.
He told the hundreds of students who came to watch the demonstration that they should understand biodiversity and consider it their responsibility to protect it. He said that how rich the wetlands of Barabanki are can be clearly seen by seeing this exhibition organized by wildlife photographer and Secretariat Service officer Naveen Banodha. He further said that there is a need to conserve the wetlands here and develop them as eco-tourism destinations for visitors, bird watchers, researchers, tourists, photographers etc. Due to its proximity to the capital Lucknow, if tourists join here, the income of the people of nearby villages will also increase. Special guest District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar, CDO A. Sudan, Joint Magistrate Kavya C, BSA Santosh Dev Pandey, SDO Forest Varun Singh were present.
Wildlife photographer Naveen Banodha told that this photo exhibition will spread public awareness. Citizens will share information about the environmental benefits of wetlands. Banaudha told that the inspiration behind doing this program is the positive attitude of District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar towards nature conservation. It was because of him that this exhibition could be organised. It was also told that there are more than 400 wetlands in Barabanki. The process of notifying 12 of these wetlands is going on since 2018. The wetlands of this district are very rich and there are more than 30 wetlands larger than 50 hectares. In which Sarai Barai, Lataknia, Kirkicchi Lake, Bhaghar Lake, Sagra Lake, Sarahi Lake, Bainatikahar, Nawad, Salarpur Wetland are prominent. Due to the climate of Barabanki and the richness of the wetlands here, migratory birds have been migrating here for thousands of years.
