Mirzapur, 14 December (Hindustan Reporter) Uttar Pradesh Congress has announced to gherao the Assembly in Lucknow on 18 December. In the press conference held at the District Congress Committee office, outgoing President Bhagwan Dutt Pathak said that there is tremendous anger among the public against the misgovernance of the Yogi government. The BJP government is proving to be a failure on every front and is resorting to religious appeasement to hide its failures.

Bhagwan Dutt Pathak said that the people of the state are suffering from inflation, unemployment, poor law and order, problems of farmers and poor health services. The policies of the government are against the general public, and are being implemented only to benefit certain private companies. During this, senior Congress leader Talaash Siddiqui, PCC member Ramesh Prajapati, Mohit Mishra, Imran Khan, Kapil Kumar and other workers were present.

Congress’s attack on electricity privatization

Sripathak termed the privatization of power companies as a “conspiracy to benefit Gujarati companies”. He said that electricity rates are increasing due to privatization and this is directly affecting the common consumers.

Problems of farmers and youth are the main issue

Congress accused the government of giving step-motherly treatment to the farmers. Black marketing of DAP fertilizer, increased electricity bills, and outstanding dues of Rs 7,000 crore to sugarcane farmers were the major issues. The government was also criticized for lack of employment for youth and corruption in government recruitment.

Questions on law and order and health services

Congress leaders said that crimes against women have increased in the state. Questions were also raised on the lack of basic facilities and poor health services in government hospitals.

Accused of promoting religious fanaticism

Shri Pathak said that the government is fanning issues like Hindu-Muslim to cover up its failures. The social fabric is weakening, and the general public is getting distracted from the real issues.

Congress calls for siege

Uttar Pradesh Congress media in-charge Minhaj Ahmed, who was present at the press conference, said that the siege of the assembly in Lucknow will be historic. Congress is fighting for public issues and this time has resolved to make the government accountable.
